La Bastille and rue de Lappe

beer

Several nights, Elizabeth and I explored the night life in La Bastille, a popular hangout for many French teens.  My favorite street was Rue de Lappe, which was recommended in one of Elizabeth's guide books.  It was a tiny cobblestone winding street, filled with bars and clubs.  The street itself was filled with people dancing and drinking.  We met lots of people on this street- the general atmosphere was very open and relaxed.  One place had cymbals hanging above the bar and the bartenders drummed as they served.  Another bar was a bit more relaxed- an Irish pub with a live band one night.  Each place had a unique feel, but every single one was filled with people having a good time.
